Today, the Content Mentorship Programme welcomed its first cohort of participants. With a vibrant mix of young creators and media professionals, this cohort is diving into the art of impactful storytelling under the guidance of industry experts.

It’s an exciting day at the Content Mentorship Programme! Our first cohort, filled with passionate youth and media personnel from across Uganda, is experiencing an intensive day of hands-on training. As they sit alongside mentors from JDC Uganda, Edutech Club, and Philinat, they’re learning the foundations of powerful storytelling—story structures, media ethics, content creation, and the importance of truth in media.

The energy is palpable. Participants are engaging in workshops designed to enhance their skills in research, fact-checking, and storytelling across digital platforms. Through discussions, group exercises, and interactive sessions, they’re discovering the critical role media can play in supporting policy advocacy, promoting health awareness, and fostering social cohesion.

One participant shared, “I came in with a passion for storytelling, and today, I’m learning how to use it responsibly and make a real difference.” This cohort is not only being trained on technical skills but is also encouraged to think deeply about the social impact of their work. From crafting stories that promote gender equality to designing health campaigns that reach vulnerable populations, these future storytellers are gearing up to make a meaningful impact.

The day’s highlight? A powerful workshop on debunking fake news and managing misinformation. Participants learned firsthand the tools and techniques for ensuring the accuracy and reliability of their stories. As our first cohort continues their training, we’re already seeing the seeds of change being planted.
